Set of Six Model 42 Teak Dining Chairs by Kai Kristiansen for Schou Andersen
A set of six Danish modern teak dining chairs by Kai Kristiansen for Schou Andersen, with a sculpted frame and sharp lines. The Model 42 chair was the first chair to with armrests supported by the rear legs of the frame, and was a critical darling when it debuted in 1955. The design also has a slightly curved backrest - upholstered and 'floating' between the wooden back supports - that pivots slightly for comfort when leaned upon by the sitter. An upholstered seat is framed at the corners by rounded teak legs. The fabric is a light grey hopsack blend.
